John Sutton founded HTX in 1997 and has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.  As a former analyst and quantitative trader, John has comprehensive knowledge of both the business and technical requirements of the financial markets, and the application of technology solutions to the industry.  He is the original designer of HTXPro, a comprehensive platform of efficient and cost-effective execution and order management systems.

As President and CEO, John is actively involved in all aspects of HTX's operations and strategic development.  You will often find him "in the trenches" with the engineers, and speaking directly with clients, addressing their specific needs.  John's collaborative attitude sets the tone for the company he established.97 and has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.  As a former analyst and quantitative trader, John has comprehensive knowledge of both the business and technical requirements of the financial markets, and the application of technology solutions to the industry.  

Prior to HTX, John was Vice President at Instinet and was responsible for leading the design of their first front-end trading technology, including ground-breaking work on the industry's first commercial Order Management System.  John was also an integral member of the design team for Instinet's technical analysis screening package, and headed the design work of several other projects, including transaction cost analysis systems. 

John's first-hand, extensive knowledge, and ability to communicate with developers and technical experts alike, enable him to accurately translate business needs into tangible system requirements.  His proven track record and experience at Instinet and S&P Comstock are just a few of John's notable successes in the technical and financial world. John earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Cincinnati in 1982.  He volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America in Queens, NY, and is also a collector of antique European pocket watches.  John enjoys long distance cycling and has completed two cross-country bicycle trips across the continental United States.

 

mdalyMichael Daly, Managing Partner

Since HTX was established, Michael Daly has been applying his highly technical abilities and vast knowledge of systems design, development and testing to manage the technical support of HTX Server complexes.  Michael’s in-depth understanding of the FIX protocol qualifies him as the in-house expert on FIX connectivity.  With expertise in electronic compliance issues with OATS, in addition to clearing and settlement processes, Michael has effectively designed and implemented automated order handling systems for HTX clients.

Prior to HTX, Michael was a Software Designer at Instinet, responsible for the initial conception of systems design to final acceptance testing.  These systems ranged from displaying relevant market data to providing fundamental and statistical analysis tools used to quantifiably measure broker/trader/dealer/market activity.

As Quality Assurance Engineer, Michael headed the QA Analysts team to test Instinet systems for their accuracy, reliability, and readiness for client delivery.  Michael led the integration of Trading System tools into the Research & Analytics front-end applications.  A key liaison with clients and internal trading desk personnel, Michael was also lead designer of the industry’s first commercially available Order Management System (OMS).

Michael has travelled widely to research the financial services industry and amass a deep understanding of the needs of professional and sophisticated traders across the United States.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the New York Institute of Technology.

jrogersonJohn Rogerson, Managing Partner

An innovator in software development, John Rogerson brings invaluable depth and breadth of knowledge in systems design to HTX.  Since joining HTX in 2000, John continues to effectively draw upon his expertise in systems development, spearheading conversions, client and server development, and technical vendor relations accumulated over decades of experience in the marketplace.

Prior to HTX, John Rogerson was VP of Trading Front-End Development at Instinet, responsible for the design and implementation of database application interfaces, program strategy, order creation, and critical trading systems that managed and monitored client portfolios. John was responsible for the internal design and implementation of TST (Trader Support Terminal) and OST (Operator Support Terminal). He was also one of the original architects who created the financial industry’s first commercially available Operating Management System (OMS).

John’s technical mastery includes technical languages, hardware, software, and operating systems that are critically relevant to today’s environment.  His multiple industry experiences at Martin Marietta, Goodyear, Control Data, and Nixdorf, just to name a few, included designing, coding, testing, debugging, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining vastly sophisticated pc-based components as well as mainframe interface systems.

John is an avid cyclist and enjoys participating in tours of the East Coast tri-state region.
